1947 (Monday) – Chuck (Charles Mayhew Astle, Jr.) and Georgetta (Georgetta Marie Lunt), with his parents (Charlesf Mayhew Astle, Sr. and Rose Lorena Bolton), returned home today, it was almost eleven a.m. before they left here. I washed. By the time I was through, George (George Thornton Holman) had brought Darlene (Darlene Lunt Holman) and Sharon (Sharon Alice Holman) here. They remained here while I went up to the hospital to see Eva (Eva Ruth Lunt). She is looking remarkable for what she has been through in the past two months.
George brought me down home. We four played a game of basketball with Earl’s (Earl Sperry Lunt) game, then they left. I hastily got supper ready. Earl and Father (Alfred Oscar Lunt) washed the dishes, then Earl helped me take some things down to the Relief Hall for The Daughters of The Pioneers. I was chairman of the committee to serve refreshments and decorations. The committee consisted of: Sister Ruth Bennion, Vinnie Jepson (Mrs. Lewis); Alice Barney, Hazel Laughin, Lois B. Smith and myself. We served cake with a rosebud on each square and punch. We had a lovely basket which had been sent to Sister Jepson as an Easter gift from her son in New York City. It consisted of all kinds of little boxes and jars packed together in cellophane paper. We had some candles representing Easter animals and a lily. Sister Jepson also furnished some lovely doilies, etc. for the table and piano. Sister Lois Smith brought a lovely with three blooms on it. Earl gave me a lovely primrose for Easter, which I took down with me.
They had a lovely program. After the lesson, given by a Sister Nelson, Sister Dalby had her daughters furnish some songs and a sketch of an ancestors.
