1896 (Friday) – About sundown, I walked up town. I went up to Burton’s. Mr. Burton took Esther (Emily Esther Sperry), Mrs. Burton, Della Kendall, Lil Black (Lillie May Black) and myself up to a dance in the Little Grand. While there I was introduced to Julius Pratt, Esther and I used to know him years ago, but we had almost forgotten him. About eleven o’clock Mr. Burton took four of his partners up to his home I remained a little longer and the Oscar (Alfred Oscar Lunt) took me up there for Burton’s were entertaining at their home after the dance was over. There were present. Della Kendall, Lil Black, Esther, Mrs. Burton. After the dance was over Clifford Bales with his violin and Will Jenkins with his cornet came and furnished some music. All seemed to enjoy themselves. They all claimed they had had an enjoyable time. The boys and Lil Black left but Della stayed on at Burton’s. Mrs. Burton gave me a silk handkerchief and a pair of mittens.
