1897 (Saturday) – Melvin (Henry Melvin Sperry) took me up town in the afternoon. I went up to Burton’s and Esther (Emily Esther Sperry) and I went out to Aunt Elizabeth Miller’s (Elizabeth Mosley) then down to the drug store to buy a writing tablet, the druggist, Monte (Monte Whitmore), Rob Ord and Oscar (Alfred Oscar Lunt) were there. We next went to the Excelsior and over to Hyde’s store, we called in the post office and got Burton’s mail. We walked up to our now house and went through it and then down to Burton’s. Mrs. Burton (Frances Haddy Betenson) was down town so I went down to the Excelsior and found them there and we three walked up to home together. After supper, Esther and I went down to T.L. Foote’s and I took another lesson in shorthand. Went up to the new meeting house and then on up to Burton’s where I slept.
