1897 (Sunday) – Esther (Emily Esther Sperry) and I went to Sunday School. The technological class was organized and we went to the Relief Hall for reading exercises after this every Sunday we will go to Sunday School until after the Sacrament is passed then our class will go into the Relief Society room. Bishop Parkes is our teacher with Brother J. T. Miller (John T. Miller) assistant. William Bailey as secretary. Brother Nelson and Brother Jensen from the B. Y. Academy were visiting us. Brother Nelson spoke to us. We all enjoyed his remarks very much. In the afternoon Esther and I went to meeting. Brother Jensen spoke for a while and then Brother Nelson spoke for a long while. His subject was prayer. He said if we would have faith and pray earnestly every night and morning we would never go astray. Apostle Grant (Heber J. Grant) spoke a short time before the close of the meeting. I went up to Burton’s soon after Della Kendall (Adella Kendall) and Esther came up. It stormed so very hard we could not go to meeting although I would have liked very much to have gone. Later Oscar Lunt (Alfred Oscar Lunt) came up and spent the evening.
