1897 (Saturday) – As I was standing in the door, Mr. Moore (Fred Moore) passed and called me out to the fence he gave me an invitation for Oscar (Alfred Oscar Lunt) and I to come and spend the evening tomorrow night at his home. About sundown, I went down to the post office to get Grandma’s (Emily Louisa Miller) mail. As I was coming back Oscar called me into the drug store and we planned about going up to Moore’s. In the evening I went down to T. L. Foote’s for a shorthand lesson. Coming back I met Oscar and he walked up to Grandma’s with me. We took a small walk and then stood by the gate talking for a few minutes.
