Journal: Jeanette Sperry

1902 (Monday) – When Grandpa Lunt (Alfred Lunt) passed away by going to do his chores, at five o’clock in the morning, he called me and I got up. It was very dark then, I did my washing, was through by noon. Grandma Lunt (Priscilla Pitt) came in and asked me over to dinner. After dinner Great-Grandma Pitt (Caroline Wright) came in and tended baby (Lillian Lunt) for me while I cleaned up after the washing. I always liked to start my washing early so that by the time the children (Alfred Oscar Lunt Jr and Lillian) woke up I could relax and dress and feed them as usual, which used to take quite a while as I would sing to them or tell them stories or play with them as usual, and not feel guilty about taking so much time away from the work, my kiddies were the greatest duties and such a pleasure to care for, then I could continue my work and get through by noon. Esther (Emily Esther Sperry) came up and slept with me.
