1904 (Thursday) – I was cooking and putting up fruit all morning. It was about three o’clock in the afternoon, when they called for us. Then we went up to Mother’s (Caroline Webb) to call for those who were going from there.
There were four spring seats in the wagon. By the time we were all in, we made quite a nice picture. Our only regret was that we didn’t have a camera. George Teasdale and Angus Miller were the drivers, Lillian (Lillian May Sperry), Alfred (Alfred Oscar Lunt, Jr.), Myself and Baby (Charles Gilbert Lunt), in the second seat, Retta (Retta Sperry), Ruth (Ruth Sperry), Jennie (Jennie Teasdale) and my Lillian (Lillian Lunt) in the third and Esther (Emily Esther Sperry), Olive (Olive Pratt), and Pearl (Eva Pearl Sperry) in the back seat. We enjoyed the ride up there fine, went to Bradley’s Canyon after getting into the mouth of the canyon we, most of us, walked to the camping ground. We fixed two tents and the boys slept under the wagon. Just before dark it began to rain, we had to finish eating supper in the dark for we, none of us, thought to bring a lantern or any kind of a light, some of them had to strike matches while others fixed the beds, it was just a pouring down all night night and we climbed in bed anyway to bed there.
