1905 (Monday) – I took the children (Alfred Oscar, Jr., Lillian and Charles Gilbert Lunt) uptown for the day, we rode up with Uncle Edgar (John Edgar Lunt) when he went for some hay. Spent the day at Grandma Lunt’s (Priscilla Pitt), about noon we heard some fine music there was a minstrel show in town that night and their band was out parading the streets. In the evening I took the three children to a lecture in the Tabernacle. The man lectured and showed pictures on the early days of the Church and the many trials they had to put up with. Edgar and Jen (Lydia Jane Kendall) had Lillian, Grandma Lunt, Alfred and I kept the baby and the children with me, slept at Grandma Lunt’s. Oscar (Alfred Oscar Lunt) went to the minstrel show and went home afterwards. We came home the next morning. Oscar brought the three children down on a horse and I walked down with Edgar. The next afternoon Oscar had to go for his mule, he took Alfred and then he rode the mule back and let Alfred ride the horse all alone. My but he was a proud boy. On Wednesday morning just before one o’clock Alfred became very sick at his stomach and he didn’t settle down again until after four o’clock. All three have had a bad cold and Lillian had a miserable cough.
