Journal: Jeanette Sperry

1945 (Sunday) – Mother’s Day. Immediately after breakfast I opened my parcels: a box of stationary from George (George Thornton Holman) and Eva (Eva Ruth Lunt), a lovely box of handkerchiefs from Lillian (Lillian Lunt), a lovely vase from Port (Porty Lewis Gabbitas) and Della (Della Lunt) and a beautiful chenille bedspread from Alfred (Alfred Oscar Lunt, Jr.), Mary (Mary Etta George) and Georgetta (Georgetta Marie Lunt). Georgetta also sent me a lovely picture of her baby girl (Kathleen Astle). I attended Sunday School, where a fine program prepared in honor of the mothers and a little pamphlet was given to each mother.

When I reached home, I found in the mail box a six page letter from Earl (Earl Sperry Lunt) stating his life and appreciation for what I had meant in his life.

Just after one o’clock, Father (Alfred Oscar Lunt) and I went up to Bert’s (Charles Gilbert Lunt) home. It was the birthday of Judith Ann (Judith Ann Lunt). They had a lovely dinner ready soon after we got there. Bert and Agnes (Agnes Coalter Golightly) gave me a splendid book, ‘Assorted Gems of Priceless Value’. N. B. Lundwall compiler.

When we arrived home, we found Port’s family here, they only stayed for a few minutes.

I wrote a letter to Eva and Earl.
