1897 (Wednesday) – We were house cleaning. About six o’clock in the evening Esther (Emily Esther Sperry) and I went out to fill a tick. We were wondering where we would be and what we would be doing a year from now. In the evening Mrs. Burton (Frances Haddy Betenson) and Oscar (Alfred Oscar Lunt) came down and took me up town. We went for a buggy ride and then came back to Burton’s. Mrs. Burton got out and I went down with Oscar to his sister’s (Elizabeth Ann Lunt) while he put up the horses and buggy and then we walked back up to Burton’s.
