1947 (Wednesday) – I woke up about three thirty, lay awake for an hour and, not feeling sleepy, I decided to get up and then sleep in the daytime when I get sleepy. I didn’t hear any of the New Year’s noise. We spent the day quietly at home. Port (Porty Lewis Gabbitas) and Della (Della Lunt) came in for a little while. They told me their doctor was the one who brought the Santa to see him. The Dr. was in the car as the driver.
