1947 (Friday) – Chuck (Charles Mayhew Astle, Jr.), Georgetta (Georgetta Marie Lunt) and I went over to the Tabernacle to Conference. The music was furnished by a group of singing mothers, including our Agnes (Agnes Coalter Golightly). Georgetta and I went to the west end of the Tabernacle and met Agnes, then Agnes and I went up to the bank. She went in the Market with me and down home. We ate her sandwiches on our way down home, then she had a glass of milk and some cookies and went back to the Tabernacle.
A lady called me up and asked me to meet with their people to form a Family Organization at the 14th Ward Chapel, only six people were present. We discussed their problems for an hour or more and they decided on a temporary committee to get started. Just before leaving, I discovered the man from the southern part of the state was a relative of mine, the grandson of Mame Sapp (Mary Amanda Sapp). She, the daughter of Aunt Amanda (Philenda Amanda Sperry). It was the Allen’s who were trying to organize.
It has turned out very cold and quite stormy, including snow. Georgetta and Chuck went up to Ogden. Eva (Eva Ruth Lunt) went into the hospital today. A sponge had been left in her body, which has to be removed, it was not carelessness, the doctors knew one was missing, but felt it best to leave it there awhile as they could not locate it and Eva’s blood pressure was getting very low, so now she is in a condition to have it removed.
