1947 (Monday) – Washed, then went up to the Library to check, in the Index Bureau, some family group sheets sent to me by my sister Della (Emma Della Sperry). They were all done.
When dinner was almost done Port (Porty Lewis Gabbitas), Della (Della Lunt), Teddy (Ted Lunt Gabbitas) and Della (my sister) came in. They left the children here while they went shopping, then came back and had some dinner with us.
Sister Smith and I went down to the Daughters of The Pioneers meeting in costume. They said we looked to sweet to sit where no one could see us, so they marched us across the room towards the front where we could be seen. We had a lovely meeting, the decorations were a merry-go-round, they borrowed mine, and they had story book dolls surrounding it. It looked fine, they also had some lovely flowers including Lilies of The Valley. They had an election of officers, Sister Dalby was chosen Captain; Gwen Bryner as an assistant and I forget some of the others. Ether (Emily Esther Sperry) and the choir leaders were retained, also the secretary, Joan Roundy was also retained. I was up for the one to care for the relics, but Sister Hodge, the incumbent, won the vote. Afterwards, some of the officers told me the vote was a tie and I suppose Daughter Brown came in after the voting, so they went to her for her to vote and she chose Sister Hodge. I’m not sorry the way it went as I feel I have so much to interfere with my research work, I can’t get much headway, had I been anxious I could have voted for myself and turned the scales my way. Glad I didn’t.
Earl (Earl Sperry Lunt) got me some tickets for the Pageant. Esther and I are going.
