1947 (Thursday) – The hot weather continues although we have had some rain. We had a letter from Mary (Mary Etta George) stating they reached home at 8 a.m. without any trouble from either car.
On Saturday 2nd – Was very ill with intestinal flu, also all day Sunday. On Sunday, Bert’s (Charles Gilbert Lunt) family (Agnes Coalter Golightly; Mary Elizabeth, Robert Gordon, Judith Ann) came down, all but Jean (Patricia Jean Lunt). Agnes is a little better, but still is far from well.
Wednesday 6th – Port (Porty Lewis Gabbitas) and Della (Della Lunt) and Teddy (Ted Lunt Gabbitas) were here. Port fixed our bathtub faucet. We have been without any cold water running, so it is good to have it fixed.
Mr. Smith was buried on Thursday July 31st from the Taylor Mortuary. It was a very lovely funeral, many floral offerings. Bishop Hinckley officiated, Bishop Langton offered the invocation and Brother Durham was one of the speakers.
They took him up to Morgan for burial. The next day Sister Smith brought me a lovely bouquet.
And today, Thursday 7th, I just had to go up town to take care of some business, paid off one bill and made a payment on our twin beds. I walked up, but I rode home in a taxi and was I tired.
Lillian (Lillian Lunt) and her Aunt Esther (Emily Esther Sperry) spent most of the day at the fair. Aunt Lillian Carter (Lillian May Sperry) came down and had dinner with us. Later she took a cab up to the stadium to see the musical play “Promised Valley”.
We surely enjoyed it. It was a lovely play. Howard Allen (William Howard Allen) came up there to bring us home, called to our place first and then took Lillian out home.
